 III. Supported Controllers
----------------------------------------

We recommend the following controllers for the best game play experience:

- Xbox 360 Controller™ for Windows®

Ashes Cricket 2009 provides default configurations for the above, meaning that you should be able to plug-and-play, with no tweaking required.

----------------------------------------
 IV. Installation Instructions
----------------------------------------

It is advisable to close down all applications before either starting the installation or running the game. Not doing so may cause the game to lose focus or run poorly.

Place the Ashes Cricket 2009 disc into your DVD drive and close the disc tray. If you have Autorun enabled on your PC, the game launcher should start automatically - simply click 'Install Ashes Cricket 2009' to continue.

If Autorun is disabled, open up 'My Computer' from the desktop or start menu. From there, double click on the icon for your DVD drive to explore the contents of the disc. Locate the file called 'setup.exe' and double click it to begin installation.

Ashes Cricket 2009 requires the presence of DirectX 9c on your system in order to run. Your version of DirectX will be automatically updated (if required) during installation. The directx 9.0c redistributable is also available on the game disc.

Once you have launched the game you can alter your audio and display settings from within the Options Menu.

 V. Known issues/Troubleshooting
----------------------------------------

I) Performance issues

There may be issues with running the game with V-Sync forced to off via the NVidia or ATI control panel. For example the game hangs, difficulties in controlling the game and stuttering. Should this be the case then V-Sync should be enabled.

II) The game won't install!

If you find that you are getting 'file not found' errors (or other similar messages) during installation, it may be that your DVD drive is malfunctioning. There are several simple tests you can perform to verify this:

-    Does the same disc install correctly on a different PC?
-    Does the same disc install on your PC using a different DVD drive?
-    If you browse the DVD manually, can you locate the missing file?
-    Try copying the contents of your disc directly onto your hard drive - do you get a standard Windows
'Insert disc' error (or similar) whilst copying?

If any of the above tests succeed, then it is highly probable that there is an issue with your DVD drive. Such problems may not manifest themselves with all discs, so even if other games appear to install correctly then this may still be the case.

To install or uninstall the game you will need administrative privileges within Windows. On Windows Vista, simply enter the administrator password if and when you are prompted for it. On Windows XP, log on as an administrator before running Setup.

III) Problems running the game

To play Ashes Cricket 2009 you must have administrative privileges.

On Windows Vista, launch the game from the shortcut in the games explorer which can be found in the start menu. If requested enter the Administrator password.

On windows XP, running the game as a non-admin user can cause errors and is not recommended. Instead, log on as the system administrator and run the game from the Start Menu.

Make sure the latest drivers for your graphics card are installed.

IV) What is safe mode?

Safe mode allows the player to load the game with minimal graphical options should they be having difficulties running the game normally. If you wish to keep these settings, go to the graphics options menu and confirm the current selection.

V) Visible shearing/tearing

You may experience tearing across the picture. This will occur if you have forced V-sync to off in your graphics card control panel (see Poor Frame-Rate to access this panel).

VI) Poor Frame-Rate

If the game runs at an unsatisfactory frame rate, try lowering the game resolution in the options menu as well as disabling any advanced features such as "Crowd" and "Special Effects", or reduce "Graphics Details" and/or "Shadow Quality".

Advanced users may also want to tweak the settings in your ATI or Nvidia control panel. For ATI this is accessed by right clicking the desktop then choosing Catalystô Control Centre. For Nvidia users right click the desktop and choose Nvidia Control Panel.

VII) I receive the message 'Your system is low on virtual memory...'

You do not have enough RAM available to run the game and/or virtual memory. Please check you have the minimum amount of RAM required to run the game according to your operating system and/or increase the virtual RAM.

VIII) Why can't I choose a higher screen resolution?

The resolutions available in the options menu will depend on what your monitor is capable of displaying. Generally if the resolution is not present then the game has detected your monitor does not support the resolution.

IX) Is ATI's Crossfire or NVIDIA's SLI supported?

Unfortunately, we do not currently support this feature. Please disable SLI/Crossfire if graphical corruption appears.

----------------------------------------
 VI. Saved Games
----------------------------------------

When you start a game in Ashes Cricket 2009, an autosave is created and stored in your My Documents folder. Any configuration data is also saved in this location. Each user account on the PC has its own save and configuration data.

You should have no need to edit these files on your system, but for advanced users they can be found in the following default locations:

Xp

 ...\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\My Games\Codemasters\Ashes Cricket 2009\...

Vista

 ...\Users\<user name>\Documents\My Games\Codemasters\Ashes Cricket 2009\...

Moving these files between users and systems however is not encouraged or supported.
